the one

the one
marina mall

what was consumed: brunch! smoked salmon blinis, arabic breakfast

people would talk about "the one" and i would frequently be confused because the only "the one" i knew of was a fashionable products for the home (which i love - i can't get enough!). turns out, they also have quite a restaurant as well! and it seemed that they decorated the restaurant with decor that would have otherwise been sold in the furniture portion of the store. clever, and tastefully done!

b and i made our way out to the marina mall, fingers crossed that the one would be open (it was!). we made ourselves at home, put in our orders, and got ready to eat. the food had lots of fresh and simple ingredients that, combined, offered some delicious flavors. i would have loved to go back to taste their lunch/dinner menu, but alas. you'll have to let me know what you think!

butcher's den

butcher's den
bidaa

what was consumed: steak, burger, fried chicken, MAC 'N CHEESE, and other sides ...

doesn't this steakhouse have a great name?! hehehe. that was definitely what piqued my interest when they first put up their sign. i was certainly curious about how their food was going to be, and always happy to welcome a delicious steakhouse.

the decor includes tasteful (imo) images of protein, including little anthropomorphized cows on your way to the bathroom. definitely lots of interesting things to see when you sit down. and once you've ordered, you are greeted by a serving of cotton candy - nice touch.

at butcher's den, burgers are delicious, the fried chicken is crisp but juicy, and you can be sure that you'll get your steak is cooked just as you ordered.

and while all of the meat-y options are pretty delish, i have to comment on the delicious sides, especially the mac 'n cheese. served in cast iron, it comes to your table piping hot and nice and cheesy. be sure to get yourself a healthy serving because it'll be gone in a jiffy.

prime and toast

prime and toast
bidaa, seif palace strip ... and other locations ...

what as consumed: omelets, burgers, salads, sandwiches ...

i used to come to prime and toast on a regular basis for my weekly brunch. we would sit for hours just eating, chatting, and general enjoying each others' company. they have a nice outdoor area as well as cozy indoor seating, some of which includes some communal spaces.

i usually enjoyed prime and toast sandwiches, especially the chicken stroganoff sandwich (though i would frequently feel like some veggies were necessary to accompany the dish as it is heavy on the cream, just the way it should be). and i would always order a side of hashbrowns because they were crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. yum. and the fries always came with a dipping sauce that i couldn't get enough of.

prime and toast also has a really delicious creme ford caramel dessert. and while i'm not big on deserts, this is something i'd highly recommend, perhaps for sharing. delish~~~
